To My Former Students

I once tried to figure out how many photography students I have had in 27 years of teaching and the number gets a little scarey. Just at Highland, I think I was averaging about 200 students a year for 15 years... you can see what I mean. There were still 12 years teaching in Chicago and then in Granite School District when I first moved to Utah. I also had 12 or 14 semesters at Salt Lake Community College.

I do know about at least 2 of my students who have gone on to be photo teachers. Their students would be my grand-students. There are several of my students with whom I have reconnected as adults and we have become great friends.

It has been a great career... I think we mostly had fun, didn't we?

I would love to hear from any of you out there.

Craigle,

Wow it is great to happen upon your blog. I think of you often and of all of the great experiences that I had in your photo classes. I have to say that I truly enjoyed your classes and that fun and laid back personality of yours. I really wish and always regretted not taking that trip you and other students took to Paris and England around 1998. I had some friends who went and I really wish I could have gone. I also really wish that I could have attended the class that I took from you at the Community College more. I don't know if you recall that semester, but in case you do I would like you to know that I am doing much better now. I hope all is well with you and if you get some time to catch up with me on your end that would be wonderful. Take care Craigle...

Craigle,

so happy to see your dedication to your students. I think of you and Amy often; in the time when I needed something other than words to express myself you were there to help...
I spend my time mainly in my native Bosnia, but I try to spend my summers here in Utah with my family. I pursue photography more as a lifestyle than a career.
Take care,
Korana S.

John, You were my teacher at SLCC about 9 years ago. I since went on to become an automotive magazine editor/photographer and now am a freelancer. I just finished my first photography book that will be on the stands by years end. Here's what I have been up to lately.
